Saigon South International School (SSIS)

SSIS is seeking dedicated and academically motivated candidates for the position of Substitute Teaching Assistant (Elementary School). This role is especially suitable for Language majors or graduates seeking professional experience in an international academic environment. The Substitute Teaching Assistant supports the planning and instruction of lessons for Elementary School students, including assisting with Vietnamese Language lessons when assigned, classroom management, student behavior support, communication with families, and contributing to a positive learning culture.

Key responsibilities

Planning and Preparation

• Support lesson planning and instructional design
• Assist with the Vietnamese Language small-group lessons when assigned
• Help prepare assessments and classroom resources
• Demonstrate understanding of SSIS mission, curriculum, and student learning needs

Learn environment

• Support positive classroom behavior and student well-being
• Assist in classroom procedures and supervision across campus
• Prepare learning materials and maintain engaging classroom spaces
• Support a respectful and academically focused student culture

Instruction

• Build positive relationships with students
• Support differentiated learning activities
• Assist with formative and summative assessments
• Provide Vietnamese Language instruction independently when required

Professional responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records
• Communicate with parents when needed
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional learning
• Demonstrate professional conduct in all interactions

Qualifications and Requirements

• University students or graduates, preferably from Language, Education, or related fields
• Strong Vietnamese and English communication skills
• Interest in education and child development
• Professional, proactive, and responsible mindset
• Ability to work in a structured academic environment
• Prior teaching assistant or educational support experience is a plus
